Bio-on and GimaTT together for the bio-based packaging of products derived from tobacco

Italian industrial biotech company Bio-on, specialized in the sector of bioplastic of high quality, organic and biodegradable at 100%, set up AMT Labs S.p.A., a newco dedicated to the study, development and production of innovative materials for the tobacco world. Now AMT Labs company, capitalised with 10 million euros, sees the entry of GimaTT, with a 20% share for an investment of 2.2 million euros. GimaTT is a leader in the design and assembly of automatic machines on eletronic basis for the the packaging of products derived from tobacco and, in particular, those of new generation at reduced risk. Gima TT is controlled by IMA S.p.A. and is listed on the Star segment of the Italian Stock Exchange since October 2017.

The new products are part of the minerv bio cosmetics family of bioplastic micro powders presented in Spring 2017 and designed for cosmetics that respect the environment and human health.

Maccaferri Group and Bio-on take a step forward to produce bioplastics in Northern Italy

SECI, the holding belonging to the Maccaferri family, launched the bioplastics project to be carried out at the San Quirico production site using the Bio-on technology. The project will be carried out by the company Sebiplast s.r.l., a controlled company of the SECI Group, in the production site where today stands the sugar factory Sadam S.p.A.

Hera will guarantee clean electric energy for Bio-on’s new biopolymers plant

Bio-on, Italian eco-sustainable chemical company, and Gruppo Hera, one of Italy’s main multi-utility providers, have reached an agreement for the supply of clean energy thanks to the realisation and management of a new technological-energy hub that will house a newly designed trigeneration plant. The deal was signed by Bio-on S.p.A. with Hera Servizi Energia, a subsidiary of Gruppo Hera, and will guarantee clean electric energy for the new plant producing innovative biopolymers that Bio-on is currently constructing in Castel San Pietro Terme, outside Bologna (Emilia Romagna Region).

Bio-on acquired an industrial plant to produce its own special biopolymers

Bio-on, the Italian industrial biotech company, will begin producing its own special biopolymers at a new 1,000 tons/year plant to be completed in 2017 with an investment of €15 million. To announce this was Marco Astorri, chairman and Ceo of Bio-on S.p.A. who outlined to the financial community the new 2017-2020 industrial plan last week. Bio-on will manage to revive an abandoned manufactory site of Granarolo, an Italian food company which operates oin the fresh milk and dairy-cheese sector, dry pasta, deli meats and vegetable foods.
