Industrial transformation was the focus of a meeting at the Gazometro, organised yesterday by Versalis, Eni’s chemical company, together with partners and customers. The event, titled “Versalis: from polymers to markets” provided an opportunity to engage with supply-chain companies on the challenges and opportunities tied to Versalis’ transformation plan. The company is pursuing a major programme increasingly focused on portfolio specialisation, circularity, biochemistry and innovation.

German chemical giant Basf presented its current research projects and examples of innovation for various value chain steps. The event focused on technologies where microorganisms contribute to greater sustainability. Our researchers worldwide are working on innovative solutions to tap alternative raw material sources and to develop climate-friendly production processes and products, said Melanie Maas-Brunner, member of the Board of Executive Directors of Basf SE and Chief Technology Officer.

The American Chemistry Council creates a new Biobased Chemistry Network

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) – focused on anticipating and preventing accidents, as well as on educating the public about how to use chemical products safely – created a new Biobased Chemistry Network to help educate policymakers on how to develop workable regulatory programs for the growing biobased chemistry industry. Global sales of this segment range from $13.5 billion to $20 billion, with the US accounting for approximately 20 percent of those sales, or $2.7 billion to $4 billion.
