Within the framework of the World Food Forum, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development by presenting the Amazon Bioeconomy Investment Program to representatives of the private sector, multilateral banks, governments, and institutions committed to transforming agrifood systems.

Namibia launched its very first Sustainable Bioeconomy Strategy 2024-2029

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recently joined the National Commission on Research, Science, and Technology (NCRST) to officially launch Namibia’s very first Sustainable Bioeconomy Strategy 2024-2029. This landmark strategy, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation (MHETI), represents a significant milestone as Namibia becomes the second African country to adopt a National Bioeconomy Strategy.

FAO Partners With WHO and Local Authorities to End Tobacco Farming in Kenya

In March 2022, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) partnered with the World Health Organization to push for healthy farming initiatives in former tobacco farms.

In cooperation with local Kenyan authorities, FAO and WHO created training programs that helped former Kenyan tobacco farmers switch to alternative crops, such as beans.

New Report by FAO: Forests products in the global bioeconomy

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO) presented a new report on forest products and the vital role they play in the global bioeconomy and climate change mitigation.

The report, Forest products in the global bioeconomy: Enabling substitution by wood-based products and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals, provides a set of recommendations to increase the contribution of forest products for climate change mitigation and sustainable development.
