Singapore Airlines Group orders sustainable aviation fuel from Neste

Neste and the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group have signed an agreement for the purchase of 1,000 tons of neat Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™. This will make SIA and Scoot, the two airlines in the Group, the first carriers to receive sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), produced at Neste’s refinery in the country, at Changi Airport.

Neste supplying sustainable aviation fuel to Emirates for flights from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Neste has started supplying sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Emirates at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, expanding the partnership the two companies announced in October last year. Over 6,000 tons (2 million gallons) of blended SAF will be supplied into the fueling system at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol over the course of 2024.

Neste begins a gradual transformation of its crude oil refinery in Porvoo, Finland into a leading renewable and circular solutions refining hub. The planned transformation will proceed in phases, and requires multiple separate investment decisions during the next decade before targeted completion in the mid 2030s.

Emirates operated an Airbus 380 demonstration flight with Neste’s SAF

Emirates, one of the world’s largest international airlines, has become the first airline to operate an Airbus A380 demonstration flight with one of the aircraft’s four engines powered with Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Emirates’ flight demonstrates the potential of SAF as a more sustainable drop-in replacement for fossil-based jet fuel, matching its technical and chemical requirements. SAF can currently be used in up to 50% blends with conventional fossil jet fuel.

Neste and Mitsui Chemicals Group enable sustainable food packaging for CO-OP brand in Japan

Neste, Mitsui Chemicals and Prime Polymer, a subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals, are working together to provide more sustainable food packaging solutions for CO-OP, a brand of the Japanese Consumers Co-operative Union (JCCU). In the first phase of the collaboration, bio-based raw materials will replace fossil ones in the production of the packaging material for a seaweed snack. Going forward, the companies intend to introduce bio-based raw materials also to packaging for further products.

Cologne Bonn Airport switches to Neste MY Renewable Diesel in its entire diesel-powered ground fleet

Cologne Bonn Airport has switched to Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ in its diesel-powered ground fleet. Neste’s renewable diesel (also known as HVO100) is made from 100 percent renewable raw materials, and it is in particular used for powering large and heavy vehicles such as the airport’s fire trucks, which are not easy to electrify. In total, switching to Neste MY Renewable Diesel will allow the airport to save almost 3,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) annually compared to the use of fossil diesel. By using Neste MY Renewable Diesel, greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) are reduced by as much as 90%* over the life cycle of the fuel compared to fossil diesel.
