The 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11-22, 2024. It aims to accelerate global climate action amid escalating environmental challenges. The conference will focus on securing the significant financial investments needed to reduce emissions and protect vulnerable populations, while also urging nations to update their climate action plans to meet the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C target.

As COP29 serves as a crucial link between the results of the Global Stocktake at COP28 in UAE last year and the goals for the upcoming revision of climate plans at COP30 in Brazil, it is essential for increasing financial commitments from both the public and private sectors to accelerate progress.

Alongside UNFCCC COP29, World Climate Summit 2024 is taking place on 17 November 2024. The 15th edition of World Climate Summit 2024 aims to significantly strengthen the impact of public-private sector cooperation to achieve the policies, innovations and investments required in the real economy to reach 2030 transition targets and a net-zero and nature-positive world by 2050.

The Summit provides best practices and innovations across sectors essential to decarbonisation efforts addressing how non-government stakeholders can achieve transition pathways to deliver on climate action. The Summit further serves as a platform for front-running pledges, commitments and action plans aligned with the Paris Agreement’s objectives.
