The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands, issued its advisory opinion on the obligations of States in respect of climate change, read out by the President of the Court, Judge Iwasawa Yuji, on Wednesday. Eni and BMW Italia signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to develop joint initiatives aimed at supporting the energy transition of the road transport sector. In particular, this agreement seeks to integrate biofuels with an increasingly broad offering of electric mobility services. HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), the diesel biofuel produced by Enilive from 100% renewable raw materials (In accordance with the EU Renewable Energy Directive), represents a solution already available that contribute to transport decarbonization. Pure HVO can currently be used by validated engines and is distributed through existing infrastructure.
Stora Enso is expanding its core packaging material offering with the launch of Performa Nova, a next-generation folding boxboard (FBB) that “combines – the Swedish company claims – high yield with exceptional performance”. The new board is designed to meet the growing demand for renewable, recyclable, and efficient packaging solutions in segments such as dry, frozen, and chilled food, chocolate, and confectionery.
The new biorefinery in Leuna, Germany, has achieved ISCC PLUS, PEFC, and FSC™, chain-of-custody certifications – highlighting UPM’s commitment to sustainable sourcing, full traceability, and transparent operations. The certifications confirm that all wood-based feedstocks used in the biorefinery are sourced from sustainably managed forests and are fully traceable through credible third-party auditing schemes.
