“Roquette is taking a holistic approach of bioeconomy by integrating various applications of plant-based resources and in particular those serving Nutrition and Health markets.” Christophe Rupp-Dahlem, Head of Global Public Affairs at Roquette, talks to Il Bioeconomista. In this exclusive interview he tells us what are Roquette’s main achievements in the bioeconomy and what the next steps.
Effective 1 April 2019, the joint venture between Royal DSM and Roquette, Reverdia, will be dissolved and the partners will transfer the rights and obligations related to Reverdia’s Biosuccinium® plant in Cassano, Italy to Roquette. Under a non-exclusive license from DSM, Roquette will operate the plant and continue serving customers of Biosuccinium®. Customer service, order processing, and marketing and sales will be integrated into Roquette’s existing business to ensure a smooth transition. DSM, the original developer of the Biosuccinium® technology, will assume the role of exclusive licensor, in line with its business model in this field.

Covestro, a Bayer Group company, and Reverdia – the joint venture between Royal DSM and Roquette Frères – have reached an agreement to jointly develop and promote thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) based on renewable raw materials. Covestro will employ Biosuccinium™ succinic acid from Reverdia for the production of its Desmopan® -brand TPU for use in a variety of applications, including in the footwear and consumer electronics industries.
Reverdia, the joint venture between Royal DSM and Roquette Frères, has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label for its Biosuccinium bio-succinic acid. The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label verifies that the product’s amount of renewable biobased ingredients meets or exceeds levels set by US Department of Agriculture.
