The ReBioCycle: 20 EU partners join forces to develop and implement a new blueprint for circular bioplastics upcycling solutions

The ReBioCycle project kickoff took place at the University College Dublin on 2-3 October 2024. European Bioplastics and its members, including TotalEnergies Corbion, AIMPLAS, Novamont, Corbion, Sulapac, and Kaneka are amongst the 20 partners that have joined forces for developing and implementing “A new European blueprint for circular bioplastics upcycling solutions”, under the lead of the University College Dublin and BiOrbic Bioeconomy SFI Research Centre.

The European bioeconomy takes a step forward. COPILOT – a Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking CSA project coordinated by the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant – has opened two Open Calls with the aim to select the members for two co-creation groups for the platform and its activities: Open Call 1 will select 10 Pilot and Demo Infrastructures, Open Call 2 will select 15 Bioeconomy Innovators.

Achieving sustainable competitiveness: CBE JU’s main contribution to the EU Green Deal

In 13 September’s State of the Union address, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen highlighted competitiveness, industrial modernisation, and nature preservation, among other European Commission achievements over the past year. CBE JU – the public-private partnership focus on bioeconomy claims – has contributed to these accomplishments by stimulating Europe’s industrial leadership, boosting innovative technological development and decarbonising the economy, among others. Last Thursday, CBE JU published a new set of infographics showing the joint undertaking’s support for the circular bio-based economy in each European country.
