Metsä Group’s demo plant for a new lignin product has started up in Äänekoski. The plant uses lignin extracted from the bioproduct mill’s production process as its raw material and it has a nameplate capacity of two tons of a new type of lignin product per day. The plant was built in cooperation with the equipment supplier ANDRITZ. Dow, a leading materials science company, is a key partner. Metsä Group’s new lignin products are called Metsä LigO™.

Dow’s surfactant, EcoSense™ 2470, is made using LanzaTech’s CarbonSmart™ technology and ensures immediate market entry, while maintaining high-performance standards and advancing sustainability with recycled carbon materials. Surfactants are a critical ingredient for creating the foam and cleaning action of many household cleaning and laundry products.

The Dow Chemical Company unveiled its Blueprint for Sustainable Watershed Management to a multi-stakeholder session of The CEO Water Mandate. Part of Dow’s 2025 “Leading the Blueprint” Sustainability Goal, the blueprint is built on the Company’s collaborative watershed management practices.
