The companies agreed to enter a strategic partnership to reduce the carbon intensity of renewable diesel and aviation fuel. They will also drive the development of innovative, cost-effective chemical processing solutions to improve the conversion of plastic waste into new plastics. The collaboration combines complementary areas of expertise, integrating Sulzer Chemtech’s capabilities in licensed processing technologies and mass transfer equipment with BASF’s cutting-edge high-performance adsorbents and catalysts.

Avantium and AmBev signed an offtake agreement on PEF for soft drink bottles
Avantium N.V., a leading technology company in renewable chemistry, signed an offtake agreement with AmBev, the Brazilian brewing company, part of the AB InBev Group, the largest beer company in the world. AmBev will purchase PEF (polyethylene furanoate) – a 100% plant based and recyclable alternative to plastic – from Avantium’s Flagship Plant and will use it to make bottles for its soft drinks portfolio.
USA launched the Bioproduct Pilot Program funded by Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for a new pilot program created under President Biden’s historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support the development of biobased products that have lower carbon footprints and increase the use of renewable agricultural materials, creating new revenue streams for farmers. This $10 million investment is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing work to rebuild our infrastructure and create good-paying jobs and economic opportunity in our rural communities.
The EU bioeconomy stakeholders will gather in Brussels on 6-7 October
The EU Commission will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first Bioeconomy Strategy, by organizing a high-level conference in Brussels. The conference “The Bioeconomy – Enabling the European Green Deal in Challenging Times” will take place on 6 and 7 October in the Charlemagne building. Neste and Hellenic Petroleum Group entered into an agreement for the distribution of SAF on flights by Aegean Airlines
Neste and HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group have entered into an agreement for the commercial distribuito of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuels on flights by Aegean Airlines, the leading air carrier in Greece. HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group, through its subsidiary EKO, will ensure the supply of Neste-produced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on AEGEAN flights departing from its Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” hub. Flights from Athens International Airport are expected to follow soon, as Neste announced.
